Tanya Chawla has built a career at the center of some of the most respected names in journalism and public media. New York Public Radio. The Washington Post. Radiolab. These aren't entry-level stops — they're institutions that set the standard for serious storytelling, and Tanya worked at all of them.

Most recently she served as an audio producer at Terrestrials, the science podcast from New York Public Radio. Her background spans audio production, editorial work, and data — she holds a B.A. in Data Science from UC Berkeley — which makes her the kind of professional who moves fluidly between disciplines and brings something distinct to every room she walks into.

When she was named Program Manager at the Brown Institute at Columbia Journalism School, she came to our Jack London Square studio in Oakland for a headshot that could match where her career had taken her.

The session

Tanya's session was a solo executive headshot at our Oakland studio. Full studio lighting, complete direction on posture, expression, and framing throughout. We work with journalists, producers, academics, and executives every week — people who are sharp and accomplished but haven't necessarily spent a lot of time in front of a professional camera. That's exactly what the direction is for. Every shot guided, nothing left to figure out on her own.

The session ran 30 to 45 minutes. Clean, relaxed, and efficient.
