How much do therapist headshots cost?
Solo sessions at our Jack London Square studio in Oakland start at $400 and include a 30–45 minute directed session with 3 professionally edited images. Small practices can book back-to-back sessions at $400 per clinician. Group practices of 10 or more can book an onsite day at $200 per person. No travel fees anywhere in the Bay Area.
Do I need photography experience?
None at all. The session is fully directed. We walk you through posture, expression and angle in real time, so you don’t have to figure anything out on your own. Most therapists we photograph have never been in front of a professional camera before.
What should I wear for a therapist headshot?
Solid colors in warm, approachable tones photograph best: soft blues, warm grays, forest green, burgundy and mauve. Avoid busy patterns and bright white. Most therapists wear what they’d wear to a session with a client, professional but not stiff. Bring two or three options if you want variety in your proofing gallery.
How is a therapist headshot different from a corporate headshot?
The goal is different. A corporate headshot communicates authority and competence. A therapist’s headshot needs to communicate warmth and approachability first, with credibility underneath. We adjust the lighting, backdrop and direction so your photos feel safe and welcoming rather than formal.
How long does the session take?
30 to 45 minutes. Most therapists cover two or three looks, with different expressions and a backdrop or two, so you have real choices when your proofing gallery arrives.
How quickly will I get my images?
Proofing gallery within 2–3 business days. Final edited images within 1–2 weeks. Rush delivery is available for directory deadlines or website launches.
Will my photos work on Psychology Today, Zencare and other directories?
Yes. Along with your high-resolution files, we deliver web-ready square crops that work for Psychology Today, Zencare, GoodTherapy, Headway, Alma and your practice website.
Do you photograph therapists at their office?
Individual sessions take place at our Jack London Square studio, where we get the most consistent results. For group practices that need the whole team photographed, we bring a complete studio to your Bay Area practice. All we need is a room and a power outlet.
